The 12 week intervention provides motivating and engaging opportunities for users to practise and develop skills in social interaction and communication. The programme also supports users to build confidence, resilience, friendships and develop skills in decision making and team work.
The Interaction Through Minecraft App has been developed to support staff and parents to provide users with opportunities practise communication skills and work directly alongside the Interaction Through Minecraft scheme of work. The App and Work book will support staff to deliver the intervention meaning that no previous knowledge of the programme is required by staff.
The programme can be used for a variety of purposes. Originally it was developed to support young people who have difficulties in social communication and interaction.
In practice users work in pairs with one staff member. Users have distinct roles within the intervention which are swapped at various times during the 12 week programme.
